ALIGNMENT

Waipahu Intermediate acts as the "Bridge" in the PreK-12 continuum, transitioning students from elementary exposure to high school experience. The alignment follows a clear developmental path:

  • 7th Grade Exploration: Students begin in the Pre-Academy of Exploration, discovering diverse future possibilities through introductory "wheels" and electives.

  • 8th Grade Specialization: Students transition into thematic Pre-Academies that map directly to Waipahu High School’s structures:

    • Design & Innovation: Prepares students for high school academies in Arts & Communication, Natural Resources, and Industrial & Engineering Technology (IET).

    • Helping People & Saving Lives: Prepares students for high school academies in Professional & Public Services and Health & Sciences.

  • Seamless Transition: By practicing workplace behaviors and developing Personal Transition Plans, students are fully prepared for high school academy foundations and future citizenship
