At the Hawai’i State Department of Education, nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our students. Part of creating a secure environment includes teaching age-appropriate topics like sexual violence prevention (SVP).

We know these topics are sensitive, and we deeply respect the essential role parents and guardians play in guiding their children through these conversations. Our goal is to work in full partnership with your family.

To keep you completely informed, we’ve outlined the curriculum overview below. Parents and legal guardians always have the choice to submit a written opt-out request if they prefer their child not participate in these lessons.
